Episode 74 - Hidden Sin Rots the Bones with Mike Kotecki
What happens inside us when we carry a secret we cannot bring ourselves to say out loud? Psalm 32 gives us a startlingly honest answer, and it is not a comfortable one. The psalmist describes his body wasting away, his vitality draining like moisture in summer heat, all because he kept silent about his sin. This conversation digs into that raw experience and asks us to look honestly at what hidden sin actually costs us, not just spiritually but physically and relationally. We tend to think that keeping things quiet is self-protective, but Psalm 32 reveals that silence is its own kind of suffering. The weight of a guilty conscience is not a minor inconvenience. It reshapes how we move through our communities, who we avoid, what conversations we dread, and how we answer even the simplest question of how we are doing. When we understand that the heavy hand described in this psalm is the Lord pressing in on a heart He refuses to abandon, the discomfort of conviction begins to look less like punishment and more like love. This is a conversation about what it means to stop hiding and start experiencing the freedom that genuine confession makes possible.

Episode 73 - Quarrels and Fights
In this episode, Brandon Taylor helps us understand that conflict in our lives is not really about the other person at all. James 4 confronts us with a truth that cuts deep: the quarrels and fights we experience in our relationships trace their roots back to our own hearts. This is a hard word, but it is a liberating one, because if the problem begins in our hearts, so does the solution. When we start asking what it is we feel we deserve in a given conflict, we begin to see the worldly values and idols we have quietly adopted. The world tells us we must be respected, honored, and given what we are owed, and without realizing it, we begin to make relational demands on the people closest to us. When those demands go unmet, conflict erupts. James is not simply diagnosing a social problem, he is exposing a spiritual one. Our conflict is an authority issue. We have bowed to another authority, and the path back runs straight through genuine, broken repentance. The good news is that James 4 does not leave us in our guilt. It points us toward a God who is willing to draw near to those who humble themselves before Him, and that changes everything about how we engage with the people in our lives.

Episode 72 - Fighting Fear of Man with Brian Arnold
Fear of man is not just a personality quirk or a social anxiety -- it is a deep-rooted condition of the heart that touches every one of us, often without our awareness. At its core, fear of man is a love problem. When we are consumed with how others perceive us, we are not actually thinking about others at all -- we are thinking about ourselves. Whether we are the bold, self-promoting type who flaunts strengths and dismisses what others think, or the quiet, conflict-avoiding type who quietly arranges life around keeping everyone comfortable, both postures orbit the same center: self. The passage that cuts right to the heart of this is Philippians chapter 2, verses 3 through 5, where we are called to regard others as more important than ourselves, to look not only to our own interests but to the interests of others, and to follow the pattern of Christ who modeled the ultimate act of self-humbling love. This conversation challenges us to examine the motivations beneath our everyday actions -- the outfit chosen, the comment made in a crowd, the conflict avoided -- and ask honestly: am I seeking the glory of God or the approval of people? The good news is that the Bible's instruction on this is not meant to defeat us. It is meant to free us.
