Podcast Overview

This is the world. A world full of magical and technological advancements. A world united, yet separate. A world built from history and longing to forget. A world full of crime and loose morals. A world on the verge of greatness, or collapse. A world, known as Vyria. In the year 2049, a cosmic event occurred; similar to that of a solar flare, but of a more… unnatural design. This event caused mild damage worldwide to transformers, some household electronics, and at some power stations. Though on a global scale, this incident would be considered costly; overall, most nations were easily able to recover. A few years after the astronomical event occurred, was when the changes began. Births of magic-born increased from 0.0002% of the world’s population to 2.5% and the growth continued steadily for the next decade, or so. Reaching heights of 10% magic-born, the extremely minute minority grew to noticeable numbers, though this wouldn’t be discovered until each magic-born matured enough to show any sign of arcanic ability. In the year 2059, the exceptionally high number of magic-born had begun to be noticed by the rest of the world. Big corporations, governments, criminal organizations, and whoever believed they could exploit them, would hire, or convince them to join their cause; usually through money, blackmail, or kidnapping. Eventually, the largest world conflict on record erupted. The Arcanic Wars began in 2070 and continued to 2079. Much of the world's population was decimated in the war, bringing the ballooned masses of approximately 24 billion down to 9; the Edicts of Fair Combat thrown out in the latter years of fighting. The end to the war was concluded by a simultaneous realization by every nation that mutual destruction was imminent. Treaties were signed and the nations left remaining banded together into larger folds; becoming the 8 large power houses of today. This event was known as the Unification, and the Supreme Solidarity Pact. The year is now 2109, the 30th anniversary of the Arcanic Wars and the peace that has stood since then.
