In-Betweener 2 - Kori Gauthier, Marquise Jones and intro to Quawan Charles
This week we wanted to briefly touch on the case of Kori Gauthier, the 18 year old LSU student who disappeared from the middle of the Mississippi River Bridge. Unfortunately Gauthier's body was discovered on April 14th and the police have inexplicably ruled out foul play, as often seen in cases of missing Black youth and teens. Gauthier's case, as well as Marquise Jones and the handling of the Quawan Charles case highlight the indisputable differences in how law enforcement and media cover and respond to missing Black children vs. white children. It's costing us our lives.

KK's Corner

On the night of July 6th 1997 three people were brutally murdered execution-style in Lake Charles, Louisiana in the walk in cooler of the convenient store/gas station infamously known as KK’s Corner.

Marty LeBouef, age 21, Stacie Reeves, age 26 and Nicole Guidry, only 14 years old, were all shot multiple times in what was originally described as a brutal robbery gone wrong. Whether that is the truth is highly up for debate.

In-Betweener 1 - Acadiana Harm Reduction
CONTENT WARNING: drugs, heroin, needles, overdosing, death This week on our first In-Betweener episode we're highlighting Acadiana Harm Reduction, which is a program created by our very own Kady and focused on helping individuals with opioid addictions in the Acadiana area. We talk briefly about the Lafayette Community Fridge, Clinton Street Pantry and the Free Market @ Fightingville Fresh and food deserts in the hood. Kady also goes over very helpful information regarding spotting and helping during opioid overdoses and we talk about a couple of our favorite protest moments so far, including a powerful one with Jamal Taylor of Stand Black. If you'd like to donate to Acadiana Harm Reduction please do so on Venmo @AcadianaHarmReduction.
