Over haar jeugd, het vroege verlies van haar ouders, en hoe zij als 17-jarig meisje leerde omgaan met de dood toen zij werkte in een ziekenhuis. Ze reflecteert op de keuzes van haar ouders en hoe zij zelf probeert zonder oordeel naar mensen te kijken. Boven alles blijft Natacha vasthouden aan levenslust, humor en de overtuiging dat je – hoe veel liefde je ook om je heen hebt – uiteindelijk zélf de keuzes moet maken en dragen. “Iedereen zegt dat ik zo krachtig ben, maar ik ben helemaal niet zo krachtig. Ik heb huilend op de grond gezeten.”

In een openhartig gesprek met Kefah vertelt journalist Alberto Stegeman over zijn vader Gerrit, die vijftien jaar geleden overleed aan alvleesklierkanker. Hij blikt terug op hun vader-zoonband: “Hij zei nooit ‘ik hou van je’, dat hoefde ook niet – je voelde het.” Een ontroerend portret van een journalist die stoerheid combineert met gevoel, voor wie verbinding maken het belangrijkste is. Met een boodschap voor iedereen: “Laat je leven niet vergallen door een ander. Laat ze lekker.”

Omroep MAX-oprichter Jan Slagter blikt met Kefah terug op het overlijden van zijn vader. Ook broer Henk die op 45-jarige leeftijd aan aids overleed, komt uitgebreid ter sprake. Want zegt Jan, “Sommige overhemden van Henk hangen nog steeds in mijn kast. En zijn telefoonnummer, dat ga ik niet wissen. Dan wis je hem.” Jan leerde dat de tijd niet alle wonden heelt maar ook, dat de liefde blijft, net als zijn drang om altijd vooruit te kijken. Met emotie spreekt hij over opa zijn en het verlangen dat mensen over hem zullen zeggen: “Hij was een rare kwibus, maar wel oké.”
