Eat Me. The stories of defiant geniuses - the infuriating originals who had the guts to do it their way. Each series is a gonzo journey told by a superfan. Series One: the trailblazing chef Marco Pierre White, and a fan who came for the food - but left with some serious wisdom.
Who would have thought that one of the most rebellious and controversial chefs ever... Marco Pierre White.. would come to sound like a soft sage of the stove?
Some critics say some of his sheen has worn off amid big deals nowadays. But as superfan and youtube cook Gary Fenn discovers, his genius cookery is still hard to match - as he tries to make Marco's signature pigs trotter dish.
But forget difficult dishes - Marco has always been about making simplicity count, and his new set of cookery videos are masterpieces of clear, zen wisdom, shown to best effect by a scrambled egg recipe that might just change your life.Yet its not what he says these days thats important - its how he says it: quietly, but with total intensity. This is why we love him. Because he's had the defiance to do things his own way, to hell with the commenteriat and the critics.Eat Me is a Big City Nights original series. 2. It's Your Choice - White Heat, Michelin and Hell's Kitchen
Marco's defiance and passion are captured in his groundbreaking cookbook - 'White Heat'. It's an astonishing and at times eyebrow raising piece of work, as journalist Kirsty Bosley can see. But he's doing things his way and his alone; pushing himself to achieve a groundbreaking three Michelin stars.
Financial Times columnist Marina O'Loughlin remembers the panache of his london restaurant Mirabelle, while chef Aaron Paterson recalls working in Marco's kitchen. At the height of his ability and fame though, Marco chooses to do the unthinkable: to walk away from his hard earned stars, leaving haute cuisine behind.
He'll return in 2007 in a huge TV show - 'Hells Kitchen', which sees him once again defy convention. Contestant Adele Silva remembers taking part, cooking under the domineering but inspiring legend.
Finally, he'll hook up with a stock cube brand to make a host of instructional videos that are at times brilliant, inspiring and full of a strange wisdom that goes much deeper than food.Eat Me. is a Big City Nights original series. Check us out at https://bigcitynights.io

1. Work It - The Beginnings of Marco's Mastery
The beginning of a journey into the world of Marco Pierre White. Bumbling around trying to make a fish pie, Ciaran Tracey discovers one of Marco's little videos. Who the hell is this imperious, commanding guy? Turns out his origin story is one hell of a ride: a story of grit and determination, working hours and hours for the major domo chefs of his generation: Albert Roux, Nico Ladenis, Pierre Koffmann and Raymond Blanc. But Marco wont be their pupil for long: he's got his own path to plough. At just 27 years old he'll get his own restaurant: the colourful Harveys, where he teaches a young Gordon Ramsay and many others. Marco's flamboyant, dedicated, and talented. A key restaurant critic recognises his brilliance - a brilliance thats unique in London, where Marco's already making a controversial name for himself.
There's a final challenge, when Marco must cook for his former masters. Eat Me is a Big City Nights original series. Check us out at https://bigcitynights.io
