Hastalıkların korunması, teşhisi ve tedavisinde kullanılan her türlü ilacın geliştirilmesi, hazırlanması ve hastaya ulaştırılması; hastaların ilaç kullanımı ve ilaca bağlı sorunlar hakkında doğru şekilde bilgilendirilmesi; ilacın analizlerinin yapılması, güvenirliği, etkinliği ve maliyeti bakımından gözetimi; ilaçla ilgili standardizasyon ve kalite güvenliğinin sağlanmasına ilişkin faaliyetleri yürüten sağlık hizmetine ‘’Eczacılık’’ denir. Eczacılık Fakültesi’nden mezun eczacılık faaliyetlerini yürütmeye yetkili sağlık meslek mensubuna ise ‘’Eczacı’’ denir. Eczacılık Fakültesi, teorik ve pratik dersleri kapsayan, öğrenim süresi 5 yıllık bir lisans programıdır. Eczacılık eğitiminin temelini oluşturan uygulama dersleri, eczacılık fakültesi laboratuvarlarında gerçekleşmektedir. Ayrıca, öğrenciler eğitim süresince tamamlamak zorunda oldukları zorunlu stajları sebebiyle hastane, eczane ve ilaç fabrikalarında staj yapma imkânına da sahiptirler.
