Hij was ook beider scriptiebegeleider en gaf hen - eind jaren 80 - goede raad mee: Randeraad moest maar gaan promoveren en Kollaard, die moest wat gaan doen met dat schrijven. Ze zullen van gedachten wisselen over geschiedenis, literatuur en leven.
