As far as the music was concerned, we had to play three sets in all. a set of jigs and a set of Strathspazen rails, all to try and make a stepdancer want to get up and dance. That was the remit. Nobody did, I have to say, although we were tight for room for dancing. But that was the aim anyway. So that was one thing, two sets for dancing, and then also a tune associated with a Pibrach song. So something with words, although we weren't singing it, we were playing it on the pipes. That was all about connecting with the linguistic part of our inheritance, you might say, the Gaelic language. […]
