And finally, in June of 1944, General Eisenhower, who is the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, the Allied Expeditionary Force, planning to invade Europe, He sent this message to the soldiers, sailors, and airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force. You are about to embark upon the great crusade toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. So they had divided up the soldiers, some who would go over on D-Day, June 6th, and some who would go on D-plus 1 the next day, D-plus 2, 3, 4, 5, D-plus 30. […]
