Is de moderne westerse samenleving werkelijk losgekomen van religie, of leven religieuze tradities voort in nieuwe vormen?</p><p>Rico verkent het begrip religie als historisch en politiek concept, en maakt met Kierkegaard onderscheid tussen de ethische en de religieuze fase. Daarbij gaat het religieuze niet om vaste systemen of tradities, maar om een ontmoeting met iets absoluuts dat zich niet zomaar laat inpassen.</p><p>Een filosofisch gesprek over religie, politiek en de vraag of secularisatie misschien minder een breuk is dan een verschuiving.</p>
