The team at Flatirons Tuning in Boulder, CO talks about motorsports, Subaru, rally racing, time attack, wheel to wheel racing, the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, current events in the car world, and sometimes we get technical about car parts. We sit down with a group of drivers and experts each week to tackle new topics and bring you stories, news, information, and updates.
Ever since we saw the three new Manual cars that Subaru said they were developing a few months ago, we have all had questions.
And recently, with hearing some of the news that came out of the National Dealers Meeting, coupled with the realization that most of the STI 6-Speed transmissions have been discontinued, this has been top of mind again.
Love Cars TV actually published a lot of the actual Subaru Press Release at that time, and I decided it was a good time to go back and watch that again, and see how it lined up with what we now know.
And he got to sit down with Subaru's Chief Technical Officer, Tetsuo Fujinuki after the Press release.

I think that there is a lot to look forward to for 2027, and especially 2028. With any luck, in a few weeks after the Japan Mobility Show, and maybe the Tokyo Auto Salon, we will have a better idea of what Subaru is cooking up.

Can we solve Rally's Popularity Problem?
Rally Colorado was a couple of months ago now, and we had a rare opportunity at this event.
We got to watch the Rally.
We even did our best to capture our spectating experience, and you may have seen the video that we put out about that:

Now, on pretty much the whole drive back, we talked almost non-stop about how much fun we had, and how baffling it was that most people aren't following Rally here in America. And we had a few ideas about how to fix that problem.
But as is the cast with most Road Trip conversations, it was pretty much forgotten as soon as we got back to our daily grind at the shop...
