So this year also marks the centenary of television globally. But there's more to this story, and it has an Australian angle. The Logies might actually have been called the Suttons. That's because John Logie Baird owed a debt to an Australian inventor. This was Henry Sutton of Ballarat and in 1887 he designed an apparatus called the Telephane.
