Georg Baum, operiert Deutschland zu viel?
Georg Baum, seit 2006 Hauptgeschäftsführer der Deutschen Krankenhausgesellschaft (DKG), ist in dieser Folge unser Gast. Besser gesagt: Wir sind sein Gast. Timo hat ihn in den Räumlichkeiten der DKG in Berlin getroffen - unser erstes persönliches Interview seit Beginn der Corona-Pandemie. Noch einige Monate vor der Pandemie sagte eine von der Bertelsmann-Stiftung in Auftrag gegebene Studie des IGES-Instituts, dass eine "bessere Versorgung nur mit weniger Kliniken möglich" sei (Quelle: Ärzteblatt). Und auch im Ärzte-Appell des stern kritisierten 2019 mehr als 100 Medizinerinnen und Mediziner den extremen ökonomischen Druck und das "Fallpauschalen-System" (DRG). Müssen Krankenhäuser also deshalb so viel operieren? Als langjähriger Lobbyist für Krankenhäuser bewertet Georg Baum die Lage der Krankenhäuser nicht so kritisch. Wir sprechen mit ihm über seine Perspektiven auf die Ökonomisierung des Gesundheitswesens, die Zukunft des DRG-Systems und Bonuszahlungen für die Beschäftigten in Krankenhäusern. Auf Grund seines bevorstehenden Ruhestands sprechen wir auch über seinen Lebenslauf und Persönlichkeiten, die ihn während seiner Karriere im Gesundheitswesen begleitet haben, darunter: Gerald Gaß, Jens Spahn, Ulla Schmidt, Reinhard Busse, Karl Lauterbach, Jörg Debatin und Doris Pfeiffer.
