Talking with Ana Edwards, founder of the Sacred Ground Historical Reclamation Project

<p>In our inaugural episode, I speak with Ana Edwards, public historian and founder of the Sacred Ground Historical Reclamation Project.  Since 2004, Ana and the Sacred Ground Project have advocated for the preservation of the African Burial Ground, defending the site from development plans that failed to adequately consider its historic and humanistic value.  Recently, she organized community efforts to reconceptualize the area as a site of reconciliation, where visitors could reflect on America's complex racial history at the proposed Shockoe Bottom Memorial Park.  In this episode, she talks about her work, the historical significance of Shockoe Bottom to a fully realized view of American history, and plans for the site's future. </p>
