The City of London and the Hidden Architecture of Global Power | Grey Matter with Leighton Grey
What if one of the most influential cities in the world is hidden inside another city? In this Grey Matter commentary, Leighton Grey examines the City of London—the ancient “Square Mile” that operates with its own local government, police force, electoral system, private funds and parliamentary representative. Leighton traces its history from medieval charters and Magna Carta to the rise of international banking, commodity exchanges, maritime insurance and modern global finance. He examines the City’s business vote, its centuries-old private wealth and the office of the Remembrancer, which continues to scrutinize legislation affecting the Corporation’s interests. But the discussion does not end with Britain. Leighton advances a provocative theory about the City’s influence upon the wider global order and asks how financial power, debt and international institutions may affect Canadian sovereignty. He connects these questions to Mark Carney, Canada’s deteriorating relationship with the United States, renewed military dialogue with China and proposals for a closer alliance with the European Union. Is Donald Trump attempting to dismantle an old financial order—or merely fighting to control it? Is Canada an independent country making its own choices, or has its future become caught between competing international power blocs? This is the first instalment of a larger investigation into the City of London, globalism and the spiritual forces Leighton believes are shaping the struggle for national sovereignty. This episode presents political and historical commentary. Viewers are encouraged to examine the primary sources and distinguish documented institutions from contested interpretations of their influence.

What Should an Independent Alberta Be Built On? | Grey Matter with Grant Abraham
What should an independent Alberta be built upon?
After his widely watched debate with Bruce Pardy attracted nearly 50,000 views on YouTube, lawyer, author and Reforge Party leader Grant Abraham returns to Grey Matter to revisit the questions they left unresolved.
Grant and Bruce agreed that Canada’s political system is failing, but differed sharply over what should replace it. Is limited government enough to preserve a free society? Or must liberty rest upon a deeper moral foundation grounded in the supremacy of God and the rule of law?
In this conversation, Leighton Grey and Grant examine the “DNA” of a potential new Alberta nation. They discuss the source of individual rights, the myth that secular government is morally neutral, the relationship between liberty and personal responsibility and why a society that cannot govern itself internally will eventually be governed by an expanding state.
Grant also outlines his understanding of servant leadership and explains what he believes Alberta’s next premier must be prepared to confront. The conversation turns to federalism, Western alienation, Alberta’s relationship with Ottawa and the October 19 referendum—including the option asking whether Alberta should begin the legal process leading toward a future binding vote on separation.
Could an independent Alberta become the beginning of a renewed Canada? Or would a nation without a shared moral foundation repeat the failures of the system it escaped?

The End of Liberalism and the Rise of Christian Nationalism | Grey Matter with Leighton Grey
Is Western liberalism approaching its end—and if so, what will replace it? In this Grey Matter commentary, Leighton Grey examines the liberal consensus that emerged after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the political, cultural and social consequences he believes followed. Leighton argues that mass immigration, multiculturalism, censorship, declining national sovereignty and the refusal of political elites to acknowledge public opposition have steadily eroded liberalism’s legitimacy. From Brexit and Donald Trump’s electoral victories to growing discontent across Canada and Europe, voters are increasingly rebelling against institutions that appear unwilling to listen. But the collapse of liberalism creates a more difficult question: what comes next? Leighton considers the growing debate surrounding Christian nationalism and draws upon David Haskell’s book Christ or Collapse to examine whether Christian norms and convictions must once again shape Western public life. However, this is not an argument that Christians can renew Canada simply by capturing political institutions or imposing a Christian appearance from above. Governments can restrain wrongdoing and administer justice, but they cannot produce repentance, faith or spiritual regeneration. A genuinely Christian Canada must begin with Christian people: individuals converted to Christ, discipled according to Scripture, gathered into faithful churches and carrying their convictions into their households, vocations, communities and public institutions. The state is the fruit, not the root. Political victories matter. Just laws matter. Righteous rulers matter. But none can accomplish what Christ entrusted to His church through the Gospel and the making of disciples.
