   Welcome Welcome Back! How do you explore spirituality, psychic experience and high strangeness without becoming more fearful, disembodied or dependent on the next explanation? In this episode of Hangin’ with Mist3rDouglas, I sit down with Layton Elyas, founder of Psychic Somatics, for a deep conversation about Rudolf Steiner, Anthroposophy, somatic embodiment, spiritual discernment, the nervous system, anomalous experience, NHI and the question underneath this entire show: What can we actually do about it? Layton shares her path from a dogmatic religious upbringing and the Starseed/New Age world into Rudolf Steiner’s Anthroposophy and what eventually became Psychic Somatics. Her work, teaching and insight bridges esoteric anatomy, psychology, somatics and spiritual practice in a practical and measurable way. One question keeps resurfacing throughout our conversation: What fruit is a spiritual practice actually producing? Does it leave us more present, compassionate, resilient and capable of meeting reality? Or more fearful, obsessive, reactive and disconnected from the body? We explore Steiner’s fourfold picture of the human being: the physical, etheric, astral and “I” along with the Ahrimanic, Luciferic and Christ impulses pendulation and the gradual movement toward equilibrium, healthy and unhealthy narcissism, nervous system reactivity, control versus surrender, psychic protection and the difference between an intense spiritual experience and genuine transformation. Layton also shares some extraordinary anomalous experiences, including a family UFO story and her evolving approach to NHI and spiritual discernment. Later, we get into the etherization of the blood, the higher nervous system, the heart as an initiatory center, compassion as a practice, and why even ten seconds of a different inner orientation can matter. And finally: AI. Layton shares a hilarious experiment involving ChatGPT that opens into a much larger discussion about AI as a flattering mirror, validation, narcissism and why a real mirror occasionally needs to tell us something we may not want to hear.    Interview Ep 7 Jean-Luc Infini. What If the UFO Story Is Older Than UFOs?

   What if the UFO story didn't really begin in 1947? What if some of the ideas running through modern ufology like hidden teachers, superior intelligences, chosen intermediaries, warnings about humanity, transformation, initiation and even attempts to steer civilization, have much older counterparts in occultism, mystery schools, mythology and esoteric tradition?In this episode of Hangin' with Mist3rDouglas, I sit down with researcher and writer Jean-Luc Infini for one hell of a trip down the rabbit hole.Jean-Luc's work explores the overlap between UFOs, occultism, secret societies, spiritual traditions, mythology, intelligence history and what René Guénon called initiation and counter-initiation. We follow the thread through the Black Madonna, Synarchy, Saint-Yves d'Alveydre, Agartha, the King of the World, St. John the Evangelist, Rosicrucianism, the Holy Grail, Ernest Scott's People of the Secret, John Keel's Eighth Tower, UFO archetypes, science fiction and the image of the Grey alien. One of my favorite ideas in the conversation is Jean-Luc's exploration of science fiction itself as a possible carrier of an “impulse” whether understood metaphysically, culturally, psychologically or simply as the strange way human imagination prepares us for ideas that haven't arrived yet. And then we get to the question I care about most: what can we do about it? Because if there really are competing currents of influence through lenses like spiritual, psychological, cultural, political, technological or otherwise, how do we distinguish something that expands us from something that captures us? Jean-Luc's answer becomes surprisingly practical. Watch for hatred. Watch for greed and status becoming measures of human worth. Watch for the moment a belief makes everyone outside of it an enemy. And maybe pay attention to whether the things you're following are making you more compassionate, more grounded and more capable, or simply more afraid, more certain and easier to steer.    Laughter Power. Peter Carroll and Chaos Magick

   What does laughter have to do with magick? Quite a bit, apparently. In this solo episode of Hangin’ with Mist3rDouglas, I dig into Peter J. Carroll’s Liber Null & Psychonaut and isolate something that kept jumping out at me: Carroll brings up laughter again and again as an actual tool of magical practice. Not simply because occultism could use a sense of humor, although, come on. Carroll uses laughter in connection with banishing attachment, sigil work, gnosis, broken expectations, belief, emotional states, frightening visions, paradox, and even the way a magician receives the outcome of a working. And that got me wondering whether laughter might be something more useful than comic relief. Maybe it’s part of the equipment. A little bug spray and WD-40 for attention and attachment. Something that helps us explore wilder territory without becoming completely captured by whatever frame, belief, experience, entity, revelation, synchronicity, or "very important glowing lady" happens to show up. I’m just increasingly unconvinced that taking ourselves terribly seriously helps us investigate it. I don't think laughter doesn’t make the wild less meaningful. Maybe it keeps us loose enough to continue asking what the hell is actually going on. Because around here we're past the point of simply asking whether or not it's real.
