And he spent a lot of time thinking about Helen and talking about old King Priam talking to Helen. So is that unusual for Epic of that age to focus so much on the women of that age? Well, Homer, both here and in the Odyssey, has a tremendous amount of interest in the female characters, and especially the domestic space. I mean, what the Greeks left behind to make war at Troy was their homes and their wives. And then what Troy is defending is, of course, its walls, its honor, but also its home. […]
