[…] Because I think what's interesting about Edward II is usually when we're doing queer history, you have to be like, Oh yeah, we can't say they were gay. We can't say this. We can't say that. And that's all well and good and that's fine. And we should be careful about the language that we, that we use, especially when we're talking about, you know, 700 year old British Kings. But what is so singular about Edward is he had this incredibly intense relationship with with his, well, multiple male favorites. But his first one was kind of the big one, I think, his relationship with Piers Gaviston, which is what Christopher Marlowe's play is about, which is what Derek Jarman based his film on, if anyone's seen the Edward II film that Jarman did.
