On July 9, 1967 near the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, the body of a nude woman was found by two boys. The corpse was badly decomposed, but the coroners found 30 stab wounds in the chest and abdomen, the feet severed above the ankle, several fingers on one hand missing and the other arm dismembered below the elbow. In the next 2 years, 5 more women were found, as each of them underwent extensive port-mortem mutilation. The public grew frustrated at the slow response by police but the killer had covered his tracks well. Finally in 1969, they got their man and he was much closer to the victims that anybody could’ve imagined.

José Luis Calva: The Cannibal Poet
In October 2007, authorities in Mexico City showed up to the residence of writer Jose Luis Calva, as they had reason to believe he was responsible for the disappearance of his girlfriend, who had been missing for three days. When officers entered his home, they found Jose at the table having dinner, which was a piece of a human forearm seasoned with lemon. Once he was caught, Jose quickly got up and jumped out the window, fracturing his skull in the process, but surviving. After he was apprehended, the police continued into his home, and they would find out why the neighbors had been complaining about the smell.

Juan Covington: Terror In Philadelphia
Juan Covington seemed to be a normal kid until his father died. Afterwards, he began to go through several depressive mood swings, but after a few years of medication, he declared himself cured. However, this clearly wasn’t the case, as he started exhibiting really strange behaviors, as one family member said he would stare at the Christmas tree for hours because he thought it was moving. Even with his mental health issues, he continued to hold down steady employment, as members of the community generally liked him. But Juan’s undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenia caused several delusions in his twisted mind, as he felt random strangers were trying to cast spells on him, so he felt he had to do something about it.
