[…] And by the time they diagnosed him, it was a softball-sized tumor. And he was probably 85 pounds at that time because he was 12 years old. I happened to be in the room when they did the MRI and they did it the day before Christmas in the morning. And I got the phone call the day after Christmas and I saw the picture of it. It was lobular and it looked... angry and i knew it wasn't very good and so when they called and said you know in fact we know it's cancer we just don't know what kind so we need to do a biopsy so on new year's eve that that week um he went in for a biopsy we found out it was a it was a tumor called mixopapillary ependymoma um extremely rare it's typically found or diagnosed in children very in babies and small children and it's always other than the three cases that i'm aware of It is always in the brain or spine.
