半導體是匯聚菁英的產業，從業人員多數是高級知識份子，對於產業知識、社會變動，甚至生命價值的探索，都有不同於一般社會大眾之處。但半導體業同時是一個尊重標準作業流程，高度仰賴生產設備的行業，一旦最頂層的菁英只能按部就班，日積月累，被磨損的不會只是設備，也包括心智。如何讓半導體業的從業人員保持對行業的高度熱情，更是半導體業永續經營的基本需求。
科技業的人，在眾所羨慕的高所得背後，其實是有限的休閒與伴隨而來的高壓力。多數人的業外生活，停留在投資與旅遊。這一系列節目，也將輔以科技人的人文素養與國際視野，「萬里路、萬卷書」的概念一方面提醒自己，別成為「四處旅遊的郵差」，二方面喚醒科技人對於生命的熱誠與探索。
