S2E1. The Next Chapter with Cho Mphanza
After a three-year break, I’ll Always Be Your Brother returns with a new focus: not just the story of Brother Niah and the Ethiopian Coptic Church but the lessons it offers for the world today. Benji and Alan are joined by Choolwe Muzyamba Mphanza (PhD), a Lecturer at the University of Amsterdam and Assistant Professor at Utrecht University, for a wide-ranging conversation on decolonial education, spirituality as knowledge, organizing outside formal power and why real change is often incremental. It’s an episode about hope, sacrifice and building a more human world through love, humor and collective action.<hr><p style='color:grey; font-size:0.75em;'> Hosted on Acast. E9. Africa Is a State of Mind
<p>In their penultimate conversation, Alan and Benji look both backwards and forwards, inwards and outwards. Quizzed by Benji on the physical dissipation of the Ethiopian Zion Coptic Church, especially after Niah's death, Alan proves to be profoundly optimistic. He demonstrates how the kingdom is indeed alive today, even surpassing the coastal borders of Jamaica. Alan entrusts to us, the audience, the future of the Ethiopian Zion Coptic Church. He unpacks how the Church's teachings apply to the modern world and the everyday reality, imbuing in us Niah's core message: everything is in the mind. Alan gives some final thoughts on his time in Jamaica and exploring the rest of the world, then concludes with his journey to Africa and his eventual settling there.</p><p><br></p><h3><strong>Where to find us?</strong></h3><ul><li><a href="https://www.yourbrothercast.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">yourbrothercast.com</a></li><li><a href="https://linktr.ee/yourbrothercast" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">linktr.ee/yourbrothercast</a></li></ul><p><br></p><h3><strong>Check out our complimentary content for this episode on our website</strong></h3><ul><li><a href="yourbrothercast.com/home/e9" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">yourbrothercast.com/e9</a></li></ul><h3><br></h3><h3><strong>Credits</strong></h3><ul><li>Production & post-production: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/alan_yourbrothercast/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Alan</a>, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/benji_anstey/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Benji Anstey</a>, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/01daylan/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Taylan Bulbul</a></li><li>Theme Songs: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/benji_anstey/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Benji Anstey</a> (guitar), <a href="https://www.instagram.com/dansoultraveller/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Dan Boshoff</a> (guitar), <a href="https://www.instagram.com/dawudmk1/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Dawud Petersen</a> (bass), <a href="https://www.instagram.com/nkanyeziiijeenyus/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Nkanyezi Ngwenya</a> (percussion), <a href="https://www.instagram.com/wallflower_idle/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Conor Hugo</a> (sound engineer), <a href="https://www.instagram.com/joshjriley/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Joshua Riley</a> (mixing and mastering)</li><li>Visuals and website: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/01daylan/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Taylan Bulbul</a></li><li>Reggae song: <a href="https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/2EyHiw3LK1/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Lawd a Massi by Lou Ricard</a></li><li>Font (ChemyRetro) by <a href="https://blogfonts.com/author/Jay%20Batchelor" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Jay Batch</a></li><li>Photo from Coptic Times</li></ul><hr><p style='color:grey; font-size:0.75em;'> Hosted on Acast.
