Wednesday, November 5th, 1986. Port Huron, Michigan.
20-year-old Scott Macklem headed to class at Saint Clair County Community College - known locally as SC4.
He never made it home.
Scott was gunned down in the campus parking lot by an unknown assailant, leaving this quiet port town on the Canadian border shaken and desperate for answers.
The police quickly zeroed in on one man: Fred Freeman—now known as Temujin Kensu.
But there was one glaring issue.
Temujin had alibis placing him over 400 miles away at the moment the murder occurred.
The trial that followed was rife with controversy - marked by shaky evidence, questionable testimony, and a conviction so UNBELIEVABLE it raised more questions than answers.
Temujin Kensu's arrest, conviction, and continued incarceration defy logic.
One word comes to mind: INCONCEIVABLE.
1.2. CHAPTER ONE. WHO WAS TEMUJIN KENSU. PART ONE.
In this episode, I take you through the process of getting into the prison and speaking to Temujin face to face for the first time.
We discuss his childhood, and I start my attempt to answer the question... before he became Temujin Kensu - who was Fred Freeman?

BONUS: INTERVIEW WITH JULIA COWLEY, HOST OF THE CONSULT: REAL FBI PROFILERS
As I'm working on finishing episodes, from time to time I will release bonus material, interviews, or other materials that are on the record but may not necessarily find their way into the chapters of this story.
This interview with Julia Cowley, retired FBI Behavioral Profile at the Bureau's famed Behavioral Analysis Unit is one of my recent favorites.
I hope it provides some additional context to some of the themes we will explore in the upcoming chapters.
Julia and her colleagues Angela, Susan, and Bob covered this case late last year; their episodes are 47-51.
Julia has also been an expert resource for me in researching this case, providing thoughtful responses to questions I have and being genuinely supportive.
Please enjoy this interview as I work to finish the next chapter.
