Summer 2025 Recap: Shifting Rhythms, Half Marathons, Palau & Leading Through Resistance | Sabeth Kapahu

This season has been a blend of early mornings, long runs, cross-cultural connections, and unexpected wisdom. In this recap, I reflect on the highlights and lessons of June–August 2025:

Shifting Rhythms 🌅 Closing out my last 3am MBA class, moving from “have to” → “get to,” and creating space to notice family, gratitude, and growth.

Here’s to the Streamline: Lessons from the Pool 🏊‍♀️ Learning from Olympian Lacey John (Nymeyer) about how swimmers navigate resistance—and how women in leadership can do the same with strategy, posture, and purpose.

Reflections from the ʻOhiʻa Lehua Half Marathon 🏃‍♀️ Training as a working mom of four, running through Volcano, Hawai‘i, and remembering that finishing isn’t about perfection, but faithful presence and the gift of community.

Snapshots from Palau 🌊 What began as planned meetings turned into deeply relational moments of trust, cultural restoration, and Pacific partnerships that reminded me that leadership transformation often happens outside the boardroom.

Through it all, I’ve been reminded that leadership and life are less about flawless execution and more about presence, perseverance, and the courage to keep moving forward—even through resistance.

💡 My hope is that this recap encourages you to honor your own season, trust the process, and notice the sacred lessons in the everyday.

🔔 Subscribe for more reflections on leadership, faith, family, and cross-cultural connection. 📝 Read the full posts on Substack: https://substack.com/@sabethkapahu

📷 Follow on Instagram: @sabethkapahu

#Leadership #FaithfulPresence #RunningMama #InvitedBack #PalauReflections #LifeRhythms #WomenWhoLead

Paying Attention to the Evidence of Growth

In this April recap, I pause to reflect on what this month has held—both in remembrance and in movement forward. April marks one year since my brother’s passing, and in this episode, I open my heart to what it means to grieve with hope. I share how reading A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis and The Roots of Sorrow by Dr. Phil Zylla has helped me name the layered experience of holding sorrow and healing at the same time. Both voices have reminded me that grief is not a problem to be fixed, but a formational space—a place where deep growth can take root.If there’s anything this month has taught me—through the journey of being a mother, wife, business owner, friend, and team member—it’s that I am in process. And instead of focusing on what didn’t go the way I planned or hoped, I’m learning to look for the evidence of growth. Because it’s there. Sometimes small and quiet, but deeply real.I share a few glimpses of that growth—journeying alongside business students from Loyola Marymount University as they wrapped up their group project, celebrating Merrie Monarch and the beauty of cultural legacy, walking through Lent and into the joy of Easter Sunday, and perhaps most personally, transitioning into being the mother of a teenager. This episode is an invitation to reflect on your own process. To hold space for what hasn’t gone as planned, while choosing to honor the evidence that growth is happening—maybe not perfectly, but faithfully.
