Grief doesn’t come with a manual, so long-time friends, Jonny Meah and Neil Collins, decided to talk about it instead!
After losing Jonny’s mum and Neil’s fiancée, these two mates sit down each week to share stories, memories and laughs as they navigate their way through life after loss. Whether it’s the everyday triggers, the tough conversations or the unexpected humour that (regularly) sneaks in.
Grief Encounter is about real conversations, real emotions and real friends.
This week on Keep It Grief, Jonny and Neil have an honest, heartfelt conversation about navigating life after loss, responding to a listener's powerful email about feeling lost without their mum, and learning to find meaning in life again when grief changes everything.
From emotional memories and special moments with family to the little signs that make us feel our loved ones are still close, this episode explores the complicated, beautiful reality of carrying on without forgetting those we've lost.
Jonny and Neil also share some deeply personal stories, including an emotional experience at a Hans Zimmer concert, unexpected reminders of loved ones, and why living life to the fullest can be a way of keeping their memory alive.
Because grief doesn't have a finish line, and finding purpose doesn't mean moving on or leaving someone behind. Sometimes, it's about finding a way to carry them with us as we continue living.
If you've ever wondered what life is for after loss, struggled to find your purpose, or experienced a moment that made you feel your loved one was still around, this conversation is for you.

The Side of Loneliness Nobody Warns You About
This week’s episode of Keep It Grief explores the many different sides of loneliness after loss, beginning with a powerful listener email from someone who describes feeling completely alone while grieving alongside the very people living under the same roof.
After spending three weeks travelling through France in his van, Neil opens up about the loneliness he experienced being on his own, the fear of growing older without Lottie, and the uncertainty of a future that looks completely different from the one he had imagined. Jonny reflects on his own experience of losing his mum, and the different ways we can miss not just a person, but the role they played in our lives.
Together, the hosts unpack the different layers of grief in the loneliness test - missing the person themselves, missing the everyday routines, missing having someone who knows you inside out, missing the ordinary conversations, and grieving the future you thought you were going to have. They also discuss why phrases like “everything happens for a reason” can feel so painful after loss, and whether loneliness ever really disappears.
Plus, the boys launch their first ever Keep It Grief giveaway, offering one listener the chance to escape for a few days at Gladwin's Farm in Suffolk - because sometimes grief can't be fixed, but sometimes you just need somewhere to breathe.

MAFS CHANITA STEPHENSON: Losing My Mum Changed Everything
Chanita Stephenson from MAFS joins Jonny for this week's episode of Keep It Grief.
A qualified social worker, content creator and Married at First Sight favourite, Chanita opens up about losing her mum to cancer and the ways grief has changed her life almost three years on.
Chanita shares the story behind the 50th birthday party she organised for her mum, bringing friends and family together to celebrate her life, share memories and keep her spirit at the centre of the day.
Together, Jonny and Chanita explore the idea that there is no "right" way to grieve, and how birthdays, anniversaries and other significant dates can bring a complicated mix of joy, anxiety and sadness.
They also discuss the trauma of watching a parent become seriously ill and die, the pressure people can feel to be there for their loved one at the end, and the lasting memories that can stay with you afterwards.
From dark humour and crying at unexpected moments to the little rituals that keep a loved one's memory alive, Jonny and Chanita talk about what it really means to carry someone with you after they're gone - and how, slowly, you can begin to step back out into the world as a different version of yourself.
