[…] So one could say there was a lot of angry energy probably left at this location. The resulting conflict became known as Frieze Rebellion. Like Shea's Rebellion in Massachusetts and the Whiskey Rebellion in Western Pennsylvania, It grew out of opposition to taxation and government authority. For many of the participants, the issue carried particular weight because they or their families had recently fought in the American Revolution, a conflict that had itself been rooted in disputes over taxation and representation.
