[…] I think we should have dual roles and we do have dual roles. Like someone could be a student at my university and they're in an organizing group I'm in and they go to the same gay bar I go to. Good. Absolutely. We should have lives that are integrated with radical stuff everywhere and with queer stuff everywhere and whatever it is we care about. For me, seeing my therapist at the organizing meeting, that is actually great. They shouldn't have to not have that life. I shouldn't have to not have that life. We should cultivate dual roles, but we just have to be more skillful. And so I think it's not about shutting down all communication, but it is, I think, for most people I know, about a little more discernment and care and getting in the right mentality as the listener or speaker is to really check in with our motivations and to be willing to look at like maybe some unsavory motivations that we have, which we all have.
