Born in 19 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin) during the tumultuous final days of the Galactic Republic, Luke's life was shaped by destiny from the very start. Early Life on Tatooine Luke was born to Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker, though he would not learn of his true parentage until much later in life. With his mother dying in childbirth and his father having fallen to the dark side to become Darth Vader, Luke was separated from his twin sister Leia and taken to the desert planet Tatooine. There, he was raised by his uncle Owen Lars and aunt Beru on their moisture farm. Growing up on Tatooine, Luke lived a simple life, unaware of his important heritage or the great destiny that awaited him. He spent his days working on the farm and dreaming of adventure beyond the dull routine of desert life. Luke developed into a skilled pilot, often racing his T-16 skyhopper through Beggar's Canyon with his friends. Despite his uncle's attempts to keep him on the farm, Luke yearned for something more, feeling a calling to a larger purpose he couldn't yet understand. Meeting Obi-Wan and Leaving Tatooine Luke's life changed forever when his uncle purchased two droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO, unaware that they carried secret plans for the Empire's dreaded Death Star. Aboard the Millennium Falcon, Luke began his first steps into a larger world, receiving initial training in the ways of the Force from Obi-Wan. Their journey led them to the Death Star, where Luke experienced both triumph and tragedy. He successfully rescued Princess Leia, but witnessed the death of Obi-Wan at the hands of Darth Vader. This loss deeply affected Luke, solidifying his commitment to the Rebel cause and his desire to become a Jedi like his father. The Battle of Yavin and Its Aftermath Luke's natural piloting skills and newfound connection to the Force proved crucial in the Battle of Yavin. Flying an X-wing starfighter, Luke made the seemingly impossible shot that destroyed the Death Star, dealing a major blow to the Empire and becoming a hero of the Rebellion overnight.
