He was one of the writers of the movie. I see. Barker was dissatisfied with the way those projects were adapted, particularly because he did not have enough control over the finished film. So I think maybe he wrote the underlying work right for those projects. Gotcha. He subsequently decided to direct his own material. That's what led him to decide to direct Hellraiser. Cool.
