If you want to understand the levers of breakthrough running performances, kaizen founders Michael and Josh analyse training blocks of runners through a data/load lens.
Featuring elites, sub-elites, creators and everyday recreational runners.
44: Sam Griffiths' Training, from 125kg to 180km/week
There is no better confirmation that training works than Sam's (aka globerunnergriff) journey.
He went from 125kg to a 2:22 marathon in 3 years, driven by grit and consistency. We go into his training from the early injury-riddled days of starting out, then pushing through and building up the mileage over time.
NB: Sam's been a kaizen user for over a year primarily tracking progress trends, although he'd NEVER fine tuned his predictions. So whilst his progression is an accurate, the final numbers are off (which is mentioned). We dialled everything in after the recording.
