14. Halston – Tom Fords idol
Hilde har fördjupat sig i Halston – en av designerna som medverkade i Battle of Versailles – välgörenhetsgalan som urartade i en episk uppgörelse mellan fransk haute couture och amerikansk ready-to-wear. Halston skapade fria, funktionella kläder i lyxiga material och blev snabbt 70-talets största designer i USA. Med sitt entourage av ”Halstonettes” blev han stammis på Studio 54 och kom att personifiera discons glansdagar. Halston gick bort 1990 i sviterna av AIDS, men det djupa avtryck han lämnat på mode är för evigt. Hur besatt är inte Tom Ford, exempelvis? Väldigt besatt, visar det sig. Vi reder ut hur mycket Tom Ford (som idag bor i Halstons hus) har låtit sig inspireras av Halstons stil och vision i skapandet av sitt eget varumärke och inte minst 90-talets sexiga Gucci.
