Redshirt junior on the Marquette women’s lacrosse team, Madison Kane, is helping to provide that support for other student-athletes on Marquette’s campus. Kane is the social media director for the mental health group “Student Health Allies Peer Educators,” better known as “SHAPE.” She is changing the way mental health is viewed within athletics.

Coronavirus has infiltrated every corner of the world, including Marquette University’s campus. At the start of the pandemic, the idea that Marquette’s athletes would be able to train during the fall semester seemed impossible. Due to the hard work from student-athlete Jordan Schmid, this became a reality. Schmid is the student-athlete representative on the “Athletic's COVID-19 Response Team.” This task force has allowed Marquette’s student-athletes to embrace a new “normal” in their respective sports.
