Double Feature
<p>Surprise! Finally here is our "season finale" from our last season. It's fine to giggle a little. I'm giggling too as I type this. But this final episode is really fun and thought provoking because we discuss two short documentaries. First, we discuss the 9 minute documentary (yes, you read that correctly) Single Mother Only Daughter. Here is the synopsis from directornotes.com:</p> <p>"In Single Mother Only Daughter Hong Kong born, Los Angeles filmmaker <a href="https://www.elliewen.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ellie Wen</a> has created a touching documentary exposing her own painfully honest and complex relationship with her mother. The piece is a revealing cathartic emotional journey which we witness unravelling before our eyes. I spoke to Ellie about how the film came into being and how she discovered that exposing her deepest, most agonising memories resulted in powerfully engaged audiences who related deeply to her personal story."</p> <p>Our second documentary is the Academy Award winning Period. End of Sentence. A synopsis from the padproject.org who helped fund this doc:</p> <p>"In 2013, Melissa Berton took a group of her students to the Annual Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations. There they learned about the problem of period poverty and about Arunachalam Muruganantham, who invented a machine that manufactures sanitary pads out of natural, locally-sourced materials at a low cost—just 5 cents per unit.1 His work inspired them to help expand access to menstrual products and menstrual health management education worldwide and to make the documentary Period. End of Sentence."</p> <p>This is a great episode with laughter, serious conversation, and women truly inspiring other women. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did. </p>

<p>Surprise! Yes, we FINALLY have a new episode to you all. I (Pamela) apologize for being so, so late getting this episode out, but I promise this episode is a great one. We are discussing the documentary, Bethany Hamilton - Unstoppable and it is incredible. Here is the synopsis of the film. </p> <p>"One of the most accomplished athletes of her generation, Bethany Hamilton, became a surfing wunderkind when she returned to the sport following a devastating shark attack at age 13. As she continues to chase waves, she also now tackles motherhood."</p> <p>Also, sorry for y'all being able to hear me breathe so much on this episode. I promise to be investing in a new microphone soon. This was recorded way back in February and some topics are a little outdated. </p>
