Movie Fixers Podcast - Episode 1 - Independence Day: Resurgence (2016)

**EDITOR'S NOTE** This podcast was recorded on June 2022. Due to equipment and technical errors, it has hindered us to upload the episode at a much earlier time. Apologies.

Podcast hosted by Joshua Martes and Jean Paul Bigio.

Edited by Joshua Martes.

This is the pilot episode of "Movie Fixers." Our goal is to take a film that is regarded as a disappointment, or failure to live up to expectations, or simply put a bad film, and try to improve its flaws with a much improved outline, hence the title of the podcast, "Movie Fixers."

We are a very amateur podcast with little to no experience. It is evident that this episode is or will be filled with flaws in terms of editing and off the tangent topics. But that's who we are as hosts, we simply talk about the movie and how it affects us. So please bear in mind of our unprofessional medium. And if you don't like it, that's fine. We'd love to hear some feedback on how to improve our podcast on the next oncoming episodes.

On this episode, we will be talking about INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE (2016), directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, and Liam Hemsworth. The plot deals with an alternate 2016 when mankind finally rebuilt themselves after the alien invasion that almost wiped out civilization in 1996. Using alien technology after their defeat, humanity reversed engineered it to restore their world and maximize Earth's defenses just in the case of a possible second invasion. But even with their alternate futuristic weapons, they were still unprepared for the return of the alien invaders, and only this time, their ships and firepower have doubled in size. But mankind is not alone in this fight as another mysterious alien spacecraft arrived at Earth to help humanity fight against the alien aggressors.

Independence Day: Resurgence is regarded as one of the most disappointing films of 2016; an absolutely unnecessary sequel; and simply a cash grab. Twenty years after the box office smash hit of the 90s, the sequel tried to catch lightning in a bottle twice, but of course they missed. Not even Will Smith, pre- or post-Oscar slap, could have saved this movie. But at least it's got Jeff Goldblum, and that's alright by us. For this episode, we try to fix the script and tell an even better story than Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich.
