India's GDP contracts 7.3% in FY21; grows at 1.6% in Q4 || Mr.Economics
<p><u><strong>India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP)</strong></u> contracted by 7.3% in 2020-21, as per provisional <u><strong>National Income estimates released by the National Statistical Office</strong></u>, marginally better than the 8% contraction in the economy projected earlier.</p> <p><u>GDP growth in 2019-20, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, was 4%.</u></p> <p>The <u><strong>Gross Value Added (GVA)</strong></u> in the economy shrank 6.2% in 2020-21, compared to a 4.1% rise in the previous year.</p> <p>The <u><strong>Indian economy’s resilience</strong></u> will be tested by its ability to overcome a devastating outbreak of Covid-19, although no one’s yet doubting its potential to pull off the <u><strong>world’s fastest pace of growth</strong></u> among major economies this year.</p> <p>For Knowing More: Listen the podcast by Mr.Economics</p>
