Putting back the 'Men' in 'Men-tal Health'
There is a relatively new awareness about mental health amongst Africans and this was heightened during the recent years as the world has had to deal with the Covid crisis. There is however an apparent lack of acknowledgement, awareness and resources for men specifically as they deal with their mental health. On this episode, Mel is joined by Leona, a clinical psychologist and Mich, a mentor to men to discuss the issue of African men's mental health. I this episode they discuss what mental health is, what mental distress looks like, the stigma and how and where men can get help from.
