<p>열대우림은 생물 다양성이매우 높은 생태계로,일 년 내내푸른 잎을 유지하며30미터가 넘는 여러층의 식생 구조를이룹니다. 식물이 너무나울창하여 어떤 구역은햇빛조차 바닥에 닿지않을 정도입니다. 이곳은 다양한높이로 자라는 수많은종류의 나무와 야자수들이지배하고 있습니다.</p><p>숲의 가장 윗부분인'도셀(Dosel, 수관층)'을 형성하는나무들은 높이가 30미터를 훌쩍넘기도 하며, 마호가니나세이바 나무가 대표적입니다.이 거대한 나무들위에는 수많은 난초,고사리, 브로멜리아, 이끼, 지의류가터를 잡고 살아갑니다.반면 숲의 어두운안쪽 바닥에는 이끼, 덩굴식물,버섯 등이 자라납니다.</p><p>열대우림은 전통적으로 귀한 목재와땔감의 공급원이 되어왔습니다. 또한 영양분과물의 순환, 토양형성 및 보존,기후 조절, 생물다양성 유지 등생태계가 작동하는 데 필수적인역할을 수행합니다. 그뿐만 아니라수분 매개자(수정매개 곤충)와해충, 그리고 질병을옮기는 매개체를 조절하는 중요한 기능도담당하고 있습니다.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p>
