Cathy Lange is currently the assistant conductor of the Public Schools Music Festival. Cathy shares the story of her early influences and how she has walked a little in her parent’s shoes then found her own many paths to share her knowledge and skills of music education. In this episode we will hear Dr Anita Collins, award winning educator and tireless advocate for music education, describe some of the influences in her life and the motivation that drives her ongoing advocacy for music education. ‘Children need music education’ Anita is a researcher and author in the field of music learning and it’s relationship with brain development. She is internationally recognised for her work in translating the scientific research of neuroscientists and psychologists for parents, teachers and students. This is a bit of her story.
