Podcast Overview

Hey there! I'm Hannah, a 21-year-old introverted college student at BYU. From my early childhood in suburban Utah, to early mornings spent feeding the goats in northern Idaho, to attending college hundreds of miles away from my family, my life has been filled with seemingly-ordinary moments that made me who I am. Thank you for being here to listen in; I hope some part of this can help you find those little things in your life, those moments that have built you into who you are, and I hope you come to find that these ordinary things have, in fact, cultivated a rather extraordinary life.

Episode 17: Victories in Mental Health

Hi (little wave), my name is Hannah and I feel depressed - often. Mental health is surrounded by stigmas, stereotypes, and fears which swarm the air like annoying little bugs. None of these help us out when we're feeling down. Today's discussion is jumping off-track from high school stories to share pieces of my mental health with you. My goal is to help you know WHY the mental health stigma exists, WHERE we are headed with it, and HOW it has been a part of my life. Then I want to share with you one big victory I had last week that is helping me press forward. Everybody's got mental health to care about. Let's talk about it.

Episode 16: Defining Intentions to Keep Us Going

How many times have we been counseled to be intentional with our efforts? With our work? Several years ago, I sustained a serious sports injury that forced me to be intentional with the healing process, and with my academic involvement. Today, I've learned to be intentional about defining my own goals enough for me to figure out my next steps and make active progress towards achieving what I set out to do. I'm challenging you this week to look at your own life and identify one loose intention (something you just want to do 'eventually,' like painting a wall, starting a business, etc.) and set deadlines to work towards making it happen.

Episode 15: Seeing Compassion in Involvement

When 12-year-old Hannah sat down on the bench alongside the Troy High School volleyball team in the first week of moving north, she had no idea what she was in for! The compassion shown to me by those girls (to whom I was only a stranger) would later give me the drive to seek involvement in my high school activities so that I, too, could show compassion and warmth. It is an experience that I don't even know if they remember, but the ways in which they made me feel welcome when the hard move was still fresh in my mind continues to impact me today. As we talk about involvement tonight, I'm also sharing some thoughts on serving and being served.
