Universal Sufism Part 2: For the Love of Baba

Good evening friends, tonight I bring you the long-awaited second episode of the Universal Sufism trilogy. Last episode we spoke about the Sufi mystic Inayat "Hazrat" Khan, but in this episode, there's a hot new guru in town- the self-proclaimed avatara (divine incarnation) Meher Baba, aka "The Ancient One." After learning about Baba's biography and theology, we'll delve into some of the spiritual drama between Murshida Rabia Martin and Murshid Samuel Lewis, two major followers of Meher Baba and Inayat Khan respectively. Along the way, we'll also get into some more high strangeness around Murshid Samuel Lewis's intelligence connections and paranoid anti-communist/McCarthyite ramblings.

I'll be completely honest with you all here and just let you know that while this episode is filled with strange and groovy explorations of enigmatic figures and psychic warfare, I believe the next episode, the final episode in this series is going to be where it's really at and is quickly shaping up to be one of the best episodes yet. This one is just to prepare your eardrums for what's to come. So please, keep your third eye and sixth senses turned towards the vortex- resisting the urge to look away and tune into tonight's very special episode of Mystical America.

Samuel Lewis Archive: https://www.ruhaniat.org/index.php/archive-home

Email me @ mysticalamericpod@gmail.com :)

Episode 13: Universal Sufism Pt. 1 or Khan You Dig it?

Tonight's episode and the next 1 (or 2, currently undecided) episodes, are an examination of a religious sect in America which have received very little attention as far as I can tell. I figured I should change that. This is a journey into the mystical heart of so-called "Universal (or Western) Sufism." A form of Sufism that asserts the fundamental unity of all religious traditions. This episode and the information contained therein sets the stage for the following episode(s) which I believe will be some of the most fascinating in Mystical America's short but infamous podcasting history. Wish I could say more but let's just say it involves the Cheesecake factory, a mysterious white marble compound, and large sums of money. In this episode, I discuss the cosmic musician/Sufi master Inayat Hazrat Khan, what Sufism is and isn't and how universal Sufism differs from more orthodox Islamic forms of Sufism, religious polymath Murshid Samuel Lewis and how God told him to lead the hippies, the appeal of Universalism to post-war America and much much more. After banishing all malevolent Djinn from your household, turn your AirPods on and tune into the golden soundwaves of Mystical Motherfreaking America.

If you have time please leave a review! All merit accrued from your positive reviews will go towards the eventual release from the cycles of Samsara.

Episode 12: Let's Start a Commune! or Thoughts on American Utopias

Mystical America returns tonight with the quintessential American spiritual pursuit- the communal lifestyle. Since the beginning of its colonial incarnation, the United States of America has always had a subsect of quirky caucasians looking to live off the land, share resources, praise the creator(s), and even make sweet sweet love to each other wives. In this episode, we'll explore some essential commune history, ranging from early American Utopian experiments (Shakers and celibate wizard monks), and the 60s revival of off-the-land living through to the present day. The final portion of this show is devoted to a defense of utopian living/communal living theory and praxis- and why those tie-dyed barefoot dome-dwelling tree-hugging wife-sharers might not be as crazy as you initially think.

Pull out your gardening tools and compost made from free-range vegan crystal girl sh*t, it's time for Mystical America!

Email Mystical America/Isaac with any questions / comments/ concerns @ mysticalamericapod@gmail.com

Follow Mystical America on Instagram: mystical_america
