<p>"Ghar" (Home) is the story of the dilemma of a son torn between community shame and his decision of admitting his father to a much needed Care Home in Canada. </p><p>About the author :Harpreet Singh Sekha migrated to Canada in 1988. He lives in Surrey, British Columbia. He has observed the life-experiences of especially South Asian Canadians. He uses his piercing eye to highlight issues like discrimination, generation-gap, hypocrisy, newcomers' struggle, illegal methods of migration etc. The short stories he weaves seem to be set in the Canadian milieu while the real conflict goes on in the characters' minds.Harpreet's stories have had a far and wide reach with publication in Hindi, Punjabi and English literary magazines. So far, he has published four short-story collections, one prose book, and a translation of a history book. His body of work includes the non-fiction work 'Taxinaama,' a novel 'Hanere Raah' and short story anthologies, 'BiJi Muskra Paye,' 'Baaran Boohey,' 'Prism' and the latest 'Loondani.' Awards and Recognition:📖 ‘Uh Raat’ (2021) was honored as the ‘Best Story’ by the Urmila Anand Simriti Book Award.Harpreet Singh Sekha's short story collection 'Prism' was the finalist of 2018 Dhahan Award. Harpreet’s work has received academic recognition with many students taking up his work, as his work has been the focus of many students’ M. Phil research. He has also edited 18 collections of short stories; he has translated 2 books from Hindi to Punjabi. Jinder has also translated Ramdarash Mishra’s Chonvian Kahanian from Hindi to Punjabi.Jinder’s two short story books were published in Hindi in 1997 and in Shahmukhi in Pakistan in 1998. His collections ‘Nahin Main Nahin’ was published in 2000 and 2004, ‘Bina Wajah Taan Nahin’ in the years 2004, 2013 and Zakham in 2010, 2013 and 2014. The latter book was also published in Marathi language in 2013. His book ‘Zakham, Dard Aur Paap’ was published in 2011 and collection of all stories ‘Tehzeeb’ in 2012. Jinder’s selection of stories was published in 2014 ‘Awazaan’, and ‘Siyasat Khed Siyasat’ in 2020.Jinder’s two travelogues are titled ‘657 Meel’ and ‘Chal Jinder Islamabad Chaliye’ in 2016.
