[…] And so they don't know, they don't, they lack the expertise to know, like how often are there opportunities for doing things that are better than just partisan side-taking. Or as Viola said, to what extent is policymaking a zero-sum game between sides versus to what extent are there ways to grow the pie for all of us? So they face some uncertainty about that. They do have, if we're going to do the partisan zero-sum thing, they do have ideological preferences. They either lean right or they lean left. So if we're going to do partisan policy, they'd like right-wing policy or they'd like left-wing policy, depending on who they are. most of the time, voters are ideologically aligned with the incumbents who represent them.
