[…] The idea that social media could be a collective trap, the idea being that that's what we found. A lot of people would like to either not spend time around social media or spend less time, but the only way to do it is if others also did it. Because if you're the only one cutting back, you're going to feel excluded, you're going to feel formal, you're not going to know what's going on, you're not going to be part of the conversation, you're going to be out of the loop. It is a collective action problem. And I thought this was a very interesting starting point for evaluating the ban, because in principle, a ban could provide collective action. […]
