Podcast Overview

Old Fashioned Theology is a podcast by Daniel Carpenter and Ryan Boyd where we explore gospel themes while enjoying our ‘pour choice of the week’.

Our primary desire is to help our listeners process the gospel as well as its implications for our lives. The gospel is more than merely a means to salvation—it's a way of life. We therefore want to help ourselves and listeners alike think through and implement the gospel in our daily rhythms by talking about how it not only impacts but totally transforms all aspects of our lives, from the way we think about theology proper like justification and glory to more 'everyday' topics like community and work.

Our secondary desire is to share with you a bit of our fondness for alcohol, so we also incorporate our trademark 'pour choice of the week' in which we pour a glass of whiskey, bourbon, beer, etc., and briefly discuss it's history, flavor, and more before diving into our gospel theme of the week. When we first started talking about this podcast, we knew we wanted it to feel like a casual conversation among friends—because that's exactly what we are, friends.

And since we'd love to invite you into this conversation as well, go ahead and pour yourself a drink, sit back, and enjoy Old Fashioned Theology.

Hosted on Acast. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another."

3) Ephesians 3:14-19: "For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."

Misc.

1) A.W. We can know, for instance, that because God is self-existent, His love had no beginning; because He is eternal, His love can have no end; because He is infinite, it has no limit; because He is holy, it is the quintessence of all spotless purity; because He is immense, His love is an incomprehensibly vast, bottomless, shoreless sea..."

Credits

Written and Produced by Daniel Carpenter & Ryan Boyd

Edited by Daniel Carpenter

Audio Engineered by Joel Carpenter

Disclaimer

All claims made here about alcohol, whether in this episode, in this description, or on our podcast as a whole, are intended only for those of legal drinking age.
