She pulls out this newspaper clipping that's in the box with all the photographs from 1978, the Asheville Citizen Times. It told the story of the discovery of these coded diaries, which the short version of the story is they had been discovered in an abandoned home. in wadesboro north carolina the diaries just just east of charlotte yeah the diaries had um what looked kind of like hieroglyphics inside they were just symbols and the man who discovered them didn't know what they were they're the 27 of these tiny and handmade little handmade hand-sewn notebooks um didn't know what they were for about three years he took them to libraries and historical societies and says what are these and they said we don't know man Good luck with that.
