Muster
<p>Das erste Treffen nach unserer Corona-Pause im angestammten Ambiente. Dazwischen gab es zwei Gastspeiel, einmal bei der Imagine21 und beim Science Meets Fiction Festival in Salzburg. Wir widment uns dem Thema Muster und der zentralen These des Soziologen Armin Nassehi, dass Digitalisierung eigentlich schon vor Computertechnologie stattgefunden hat und sich als Kulturform der Moderne sehr hartnäckig hält. Dem stellen wir einen historischen Text von Julian Offray de La Mettrie gegenüber, der in Zeiten der Aufklärung die sehr gewagte These vertrat, der Mensch sei einfach eine sehr komplexe Maschine. Superintelligenz
<p>Das zehnte Treffen des Kreises widmet sich dem Thema Superinterlligenz. Wir haben zwei Gäste: Isabell Kunst und Konstantin Oppl die die Firma Xephor mit keinem geringerem Ziel gegründet haben, eine generelle, künstliche Intelligenz zu bauen. Sie beziehen sich bei ihrer Arbeit vor allem auf die Erkenntisphilosophie von Karl Popper, weshalb wir auch eines seiner Hauptwerke gelesen habe. Dazu bestprechen wir Nick Bostrøm’s Bestseller “Superintelligenz” und als drittes Buch stellen wir die Biographie von Alan Touring vor - einem revolutionären Vordenker der Informatik, der sich bereits in den 40ern mit der Frage beschäftigt hat “Können Menschen Denken?” Nick Bostrøm: Superintelligenz - Szenarien einer kommenden Revolution Karl Popper: Logik der Forschung Andrew Hodges: Alan Turing - The Enigma</p>

Überwachung
<p>Im neunten Treffen, dem ersten im neuen Jahr 2020, beschäftigen wir uns im Kulturcafe Max mit dem Thema Überwachung. Unmittelbarer Anlass dafür war der Besuch von Shoshana Zuboff bei den Stadtgesprächen der Arbeiterkammer Wien. Eingerahmt wird ihr Buch von zwei Klassikern: Shoshana Zuboff: Das Zeitalter des Überwachungskapitalismus Hannah Arendt: Elemente und Ursprünge totaler Herrschaft George Orwell: 1984</p>
