In this episode, Professor Nijmi Edres, Assistant Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Bern, and Professor Luca Di Blasi, Associate Professor of Philosophy at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Bern, speak with Father Issa Thaljieh, a Greek Orthodox parish priest at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem (Palestine / Occupied Territories). Israel’s Unfinished Secularization – Belief, Boundaries and Belonging
<p>In this episode, Lea Abdelouahal and Noà Furrer explore the question of postsecularity through the lens of Israel’s legal system. They are joined by Professor Nijmi Edres who is an expert in the legal and social history of Israel–Palestine. Drawing on her academic work, she helps unpack Israel’s plural legal system and it’s ambivalence. The conversation also addresses interreligious marriage and the legal limits faced by mixed-faith couples.
