So grab a cuppa, hit play and join me in this exploration of the power of community. 10 Years of Goodbye, Hello (and what’s coming next!)
This Thursday is a momentous occasion in my world {{ subscriber.first_name }} because it's when the 10th edition of the Goodbye, Hello journal, Goodbye 2026, Hello 2027, will be released into the world! 🥳 TEN editions! I honestly can’t quite believe it. And while I am ridiculously excited for you to see this year’s journal - including its gorgeous new design, created in collaboration with designer Lou Desborough and illustrator Sara from Badbish Design - what I’m most excited about this year is celebrating YOU guys. The community of people who, over the past ten years, have made Goodbye, Hello part of their lives. Who’ve sat down at kitchen tables, on sofas, in cafés and on holiday with their journals and used them to reflect, dream, make changes and design their lives. And so this year, I want to make much more of that. I’ve got lots planned, including: a brand new Goodbye, Hello Guided Experience that I cannot wait to tell you about an online AND offline celebration for Goodbye, Hello fans, which you’re all invited to 3 journals for the price of 2 offer (from 1–14 October) - so that’s your Christmas presents sorted! 🥳 aaaand a creative project I’m cooking up to celebrate the stories of people who’ve been using Goodbye, Hello for anywhere from one to ten years to design their lives. So if you’re one of those people, I’m going to want to hear from you! So, in today’s Project You Pep-talk, I want to tell you a little bit about what I’ve got planned, why I want this 10th edition to be less about simply launching another journal and much more about celebrating the community that has grown around it - and how you can be part of it. So if you’re a Goodbye, Hello fan - whether you’ve been with me since the very beginning or you’ve only just discovered the journal - this one’s for you. Hit play to hear what I’ve got in store for you this year, and then get ready to celebrate with me when Goodbye 2026, Hello 2027 officially lands this Thursday! 🥳 x Selina These Project You Pep-talks are brought to you by Selina Barker - founder and creator of the Project You journals (https://projectyoujournals.com/)

Has September sent you into overdrive!?
Two weeks ago I emailed confessing to being in a September tailspin. I wasn't so much embracing that back-to-school energy as I was being dragged 100mph by this year's fire horse! 😂 And despite offering up seven steps to help us all step into September with a little more intention and a little less panic, it turns out one attempt at reigning myself back in wasn’t quite enough! And before long I was having another word with myself: This way of working was not sustainable. I needed to find another way. So in this week’s pep-talk I'm sharing what I've been doing to hit the reset button, slow this fire horse down and get back control - of my energy...and my sanity! And finally it IS working. So, if you're finding yourself sucked into the urgent rush of life with your own inner sergeant major shouting out you to 'not stop' and 'go faster', then hit play on today's Pep-talk and let's get you hitting that reset button too! Why life's transitions are so often an identity issue
In today's Pep-Talk I decided to dive into the juicy topic of identity and the roles we wear in life - at home, work, in our relationships, in community. Sometimes these roles serve us - allowing us to interact with the world in ways that make us come alive. But sometimes they don't. And when we find ourselves going through transitions in our lives, often what you'll find is that at the core of it we are shedding old identities that no longer serve us and stepping into new identities that make us feel more aligned, connected and alive. And so today I wanted to invite you to take a deep dive with me into the roles we play in life and how to start consciously choosing the roles we wish to play more - and the roles we don't. 🎧 Hit play and let's dive in! A different kind of mid-year reset
This week we arrive at the midway point of the year. For those of you with a Goodbye 2025, Hello 2026 journal it is time to open it up and do your Quarterly Check-in - and if you want to add an extra layer of depth and inspiration to the experience, come and join me and other Goodbye, Hello fans in the Project You Club, as we do it together tomorrow evening (UK time) here (https://www.addevent.com/event/34sdcbkvcnlv). But before we get into the dreaming and planning - that this halfway point of the year is so perfect for - I want to invite you to sit in the messy middle with me. Sit with the aspects of your life that don't feel so great at the moment. The areas where you might feel lost, upset, confused, untethered. And instead of rushing to fix any of it, simply sit with it. Sit with the uncertainty, the discomfort, the unanswered questions. Let it be messy. Because sometimes, it's only when we stop trying to escape the messy middle - and instead simply sit with what is - that the path we're supposed to be on can finally emerge. 🎧 Hit play on today's episode and explore why things need to unravel in the middle of any journey and why trying to fix it too fast can be the very thing holding us back What's on in the Project You Club this week - to help you harness the midway point of the year: Goodbye, Hello * Live *Quarterly Check-In (https://preview.kit-mail3.com/click/dpheh0hzhmh4/aHR0cHM6Ly9wcmV2aWV3LmtpdC1tYWlsMy5jb20vY2xpY2svZHBoZWgwaHpobWg0L2FIUjBjSE02THk5M2QzY3VZV1JrWlhabGJuUXVZMjl0TDJWMlpXNTBMek0wYzJSalltdDJZMjVzZGc9PQ==): Tuesday 30th June There is something extra special about doing these Quarterly Check-ins in community. Also it makes sure you do actually do it! We spend the first half hour filling in our own Quarterly Check-ins from our 'Goodbye 2025, Hello 2026' journals and then share and celebrate with the group (as much as we want to) some of the key lessons we've learnt and new intentions we've set for Q3. What my right arm has been teaching me
This week on the podcast I'm talking about...my right arm. It's more interesting than it sounds, promise 😂 I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel like aches, pains and illnesses that I go through, are my body's way of giving me an important message that something is out of balance in my life. I'm a big believer that that is what burnout is all about. That it's your body and your brain's way of saying 'STOP. Something is wrong. Something has to change'. So when recently - as I've been going through my big career transition - my right arm started to ache, getting increasingly worse until it has become hard to pick things up with my right hand - my instinct was that it was connected to the journey that I'm on. And as I've been asking that arm (yes I've been talking to my arm) what message it is trying to give me and as I've been using my left arm instead of my right - to allow the right to rest and heal - I've gained so much insight and wisdom from tuning into this pain in my body and what it has to teach me about where I was out of balance in my life. And so in today's episode I wanted to share with you what my right arm has been teaching me about what has been out of balance in my life - the blind spots I hadn't been seeing before. And how healing the pain in my right arm is playing a part in this journey back to balance - where I'm striving less and hanging out in the metaphorical woods more. And finally things - much to my surprise - are starting to flow again. So if you've been feeling lately that you've been existing on a treadmill of never-ending to-do lists, striving and just pushing on through, because you feel you have no other option...then this is an episode for you. Is your ambition helping you grow or holding you back?
Over the past month or so, as I've been navigating this big career/business transition, I've noticed something unexpected has happened to my ambition. It hasn't disappeared, but it's been completely dismantled and has re-rooted itself somewhere completely different. And it wasn't conscious. It just seemed to happen as I journeyed through the ring of fire I talked about in last week's episode. Looking back, I can see that much of the ambition I've carried throughout my career over the past 20 years was more ego-driven than I realised. That underneath my genuine desire to help people and do meaningful work, was a hidden desire that was lurking in the shadows that craved recognition, achievement and external validation. And as everything has felt like it's been falling apart over the past few months, those ambitions seem to have burned away. What's emerged in their place feels simpler. Calmer. More nourishing. My ambition is suddenly for something very different. And it feels incredibly liberating. And frankly, a huge relief! And it's really made me reflect on the difference between healthy ambition and unhealthy ambition. How unhealthy ambition can keep us trapped on a treadmill of constant striving, always chasing the next milestone, the next achievement, the next thing that will finally make us feel successful enough. And how healthy ambition might have less to do with proving ourselves and more to do with creating, contributing, growing and mastering the things that genuinely matter to us. Listen in as I explore this topic and let me know what you think. I'd love to hear: has your ambition changed over the years? And do you think it's helping you grow or holding you back? x Selina P.S. If you've been enjoying these episodes recently, please would you take a moment and leave a review wherever you listen to the Project You Pep-Talks - it will make my day! 🙏 These Project You Pep-talks are brought to you by Selina Barker - founder and creator of the Project You journals (https://projectyoujournals.com/)

Why we need to let things fall apart (in order to grow)
A few weeks ago, I found myself having a panic attack. On my hands and knees, on the kitchen floor (where all my panic attacks seem to happen). The reality had finally hit me: the way I'd been running my business for the past 20 years was no longer working in the way it once did. I'd tried so hard to hold it all together for the past few years, to keep it from breaking. But with AI and the rising cost of living, the coaching industry - particularly my kind of coaching - has taken a big hit. And I finally had to face the fact that my business - as I knew it - was falling apart. And I'm not going to lie, it felt terrifying. Hence the panic attack. But rather than rushing to try to fix it...I knew it was time to let it fall apart. And I'm so glad I did. Because by letting it unravel, what has emerged is a clarity around the work that is calling to me, a whole new vision for my business and a renewed sense of purpose that I just couldn't access while I was busy trying to hold everything together and stop it from falling apart. And so in today's Pep-Talk I wanted to dive into this topic and look at why it is so important to let things fall apart. How it helps us to: Stop fighting reality and start working with it Let go of identities, roles and expectations that no longer fit Get clear on what we want to carry forward into our next chapter Find freedom, purpose and possibility in the midst of uncertainty Discover strengths and wisdom we didn't know we had Create the space for something new to emerge So, if you're in the middle of an ending, an unraveling, a career crossroads, a relationship shift or a season of life that no longer feels right, I hope this episode reminds you that things falling apart isn't always a sign that something has gone wrong. Often it's a sign that you're ready for a new chapter. The Messy Middle: Navigating Life’s Transitions
Hello lovelies, This week on the Project You Pep-Talk podcast I’m diving deep into the topic of transitions: ✨ Why we need to embrace change and uncertainty if we want to create lives we want to live ✨Why transitions always begin with an ending ✨ Why you can’t avoid the “messy middle” - you gotta go through it ✨ Why we need to embrace uncertainty and get comfortable with the unknown ✨The caterpillar probably finds it uncomfortable becoming goo in the cocoon - but it’s worth it! ✨ How I’m personally navigating a huge transition in my own work and business right now ✨ The brilliant book Transitions by William Bridges and why it’s helped me so much - 20 years ago and now! ✨ What happens when we try to hold onto the jobs, relationships or versions of ourselves that we have already outgrown And I did something for the first time before recording this Pep-Talk. I asked my Wise Older Self: ‘what would you have me talk about in my audio Pep-Talk for Monday?’. I often write a message from my Wise Older Self for me each morning. So this time I thought I’d ask what message she might have for you. And this is what she said: “Tell them of uncertainty. That our desire for certainty, safety, order, everything needing to be predictable, tidy and risk-free - is stopping us from growing. We need things to die and dissolve so that new shoots can come through - so that new paths, new relationships, new versions of us may come to the surface. We need to be able to step into uncertainty and allow ourselves to surrender to the unknown of it all. If we are always wanting certainty, we will hold onto the things we have outgrown for far too long. And there we will remain - stuck - until life shakes us awake and forces us to let go. Start there” And so that’s what I did 😍 If you’re going through a transition in your life right now - or if you’re feeling stuck or frustrated in an area of your life (a sign that some kind of change is what you need) then this episode is for you. Hit play and join me for a deep dive into the messy middle! I’m genuinely blown away by what this unlocked
Ooh I'm excited for you to listen to this week's Pep-Talk! I felt so fired up when I was recording it and I'm hoping that it will get you feeling fired up too 🔥 Because over the past couple of weeks - since the 5 Day Energy Reset actually - I’ve been doing really small, simple things to boost my energy - above all my Motivational Energy. And I really do mean simple stuff: a bit of journaling, a bit of EFT tapping, a couple of inspiring podcasts That’s it. And the effect it’s had on me has genuinely taken me by surprise. Not only am I feeling more alive and in flow (which I love) but I've noticed a big shift in how I’m thinking, that has honestly blown me away. The questions I’m asking myself have changed. And the way I’m answering them has changed too. It’s like I’ve unlocked not just my ability to dream expansively again, but I'm dreaming with a whole new level of clarity. And it's flipping exciting. But it’s also been a really important reminder: When our energy is low, we don’t just feel tired - we start to shrink our lives without even realising it. We dream smaller. We doubt more. We hold ourselves back. But when you simply focus on getting that energy flowing again - particularly your Motivational energy - everything can shift. Your perspective changes. Your ideas change. The direction you want to go in starts to become clearer. And that is why reclaiming your energy really can be so life changing. So if you’ve been feeling a bit flat lately… or a bit lost… or like you’re not quite fulfilling your potential… I really want you to go and listen to this one. So hit play on this Pep-Talk and let it remind you what's possible when you start putting your energy first 🔥 x Selina P.S. I also share some exciting news about how - very soon - we can unlock our five energy zones together - and that is when the magic will really start to happen! Can burnout actually be good for us?
Five years ago this week, my book Burnt Out - the exhausted person's six-step guide to thriving in a fast-paced world - was released into the world. Here I am proudly clutching all four versions - English, Mandarin, Norwegian and Dutch. I am so proud of this book and how it has helped people over the years. But five years on, I've been asking myself: would I write the same book today? Or would I take people on a whole different journey? What if burnout isn't just a problem to be solved, but a necessary ring of fire? The thing that gets us off the treadmill of daily grind and onto the path we were really supposed to be on?... I'm not giving you any spoilers 😉 - hit play and dive into this conversation with me to find out what I answered. And if you listen through to the end, you'll hear a surprise announcement - one that I wasn't going to make for another few weeks - but, well, I got caught up in the moment and as I say in the episode: it is time. Time for us to start going after our dreams and building the lives we really want to be living. And if I can help you on your journey to doing that 😊 x Selina SHOW NOTES: 🎧 Listen to the episode with Donna Lancaster over on my Another Way podcast (https://anotherwaywithselinabarker.substack.com/s/another-way) where we talk about how burnout and breakdowns can often act as a portal that helps us transition from the first to second phase of life 📖 If you haven't got Burnt Out, you can buy it here. Time to get our energy back
I have TWO exciting announcement to share with you today - one of them kicks off next week and I think you're you're going to love it! The first announcement is that I've set myself a goal for 2026 to help 1,000 people reclaim their energy! 🥳🥳🥳 Every single time I say it out loud, I feel a flutter of excitement, because honestly, so many of us are running on empty and have just accepted that as normal. And I am on a mission to show people that it really doesn't have to be that way. In the episode I talk about why we've normalised exhaustion, how we are in fact designed to thrive and how the five energy zones framework - that lies at the heart of my Time to Thrive journal - can help you unlock your energy so that, before you know it, you'll be feeling more energised than you have done in a long time - years even. That certainly was the case for me. And here's the exciting part...I'm kicking everything off with a FREE five-day Energy Reset (https://projectyoushop.com/pages/5-day-energy-reset), starting on the 23rd of March. Each day you'll get a short audio delivered straight to your inbox - just five minutes - walking you through one of the 5 energy zones, helping you spot where you're running low on energy, and giving you simple, doable things you can do to top yourself back up. Even if you've only got two minutes. This is gentle, practical, and it works. I'll be doing it myself and I honestly can't wait. If you're feeling that familiar spring tiredness and you're ready for more energy, this is for you. 👉 SIGN UP FOR THE FREE FIVE-DAY ENERGY RESET HERE (https://projectyoushop.com/pages/5-day-energy-reset) I can't wait to do this together! x Selina P.S. If you already have the Time to Thrive journal, (https://projectyoushop.com/products/time-to-thrive?variant=56134565855616) this 5-Day Energy Reset is the perfect opportunity to dive back in and start building your personal toolkit for thriving. The Four Burnout Archetypes - which one are you?
In today's Pep-Talk I'm diving into the topic that everyone seems to love when they read my book Burnt Out - the Burnout Archetypes. If you've never taken my burnout archetype quiz (https://projectyoushop.com/pages/burnout-archetype-quiz) (or even if you have but it was a some time ago), you can do it today - it's free and takes 2 minutes! TAKE THE QUIZ (https://projectyoushop.com/pages/burnout-archetype-quiz) I came up with the burnout archetypes while I was writing Burnt Out. I’d noticed that people don’t all burn out in the same way. The way we behave when we’re heading towards burnout, tends to reflect our personality and strengths. It’s as if, when your fight-or-flight response kicks in, your best traits get jacked up on adrenaline - like they’ve had one too many espressos and gone a little loco. The four burnout archetypes are: The Over-Giver The Over-Thinker The Over-Achiever The Over-Doer And yes, you can be more than one, but there is always one that you slip into the most when you're under pressure. Knowing which burnout archetype you are means you can spot the warning signs early on and take action before you crash. It’s a game changer! Take the quiz (https://projectyoushop.com/pages/burnout-archetype-quiz) to find out which your dominant burnout archetype is. Don't make this mistake as you step into spring
I love to see how the arrival of Spring in the air really does seem to give everyone a boost of energy and excitement. Last week we enjoyed our first warm blue-skied day here in London and it was glorious. However, while I am a big fan of harnessing that Spring energy to get started on new projects and plans, let me give you a loving word of warning: please remember that you are emerging from a long Winter, that used up a lot of your energy, so before you go rushing off to start new projects, first harness that Spring energy to recharge your batteries and fill up your cup. Because THIS is us all crawling out of Winter right now. Tired and slightly dishevelled after making it through Winter 😂... So if you're feeling low on energy right now, then please know that IT IS NATURAL. That's why it's so important to first use that Spring energy for you. To fill up your cup and recharge your batteries. So that by the time we hit Easter, you have built your energy reserves back up and have a genuine spring in your step. Because the last thing I want is for you to get to Easter and be one of the many people suffering from what I call Easter Exhaustion. So tune in to today's Project You Pep-talk and get my top tips on how to top up your energy zones as we step into Spring. 🎧 Hit play on today’s Pep-Talk to find out why Spring is the season where burnout happens the most - and what you can start doing today to build your energy back up And you can order your Time to Thrive journal (https://projectyoushop.com/pages/time-to-thrive) here at the projectyoushop.com (https://projectyoushop.com/pages/time-to-thrive) These Project You Pep-talks are brought to you by Selina Barker - founder and creator of the Project You journals (https://projectyoujournals.com/)
