[…] And ideally, courts would also use this data to improve their own processes, enhance transparency, and increase access to justice. But the problem is that for all the data these millions of cases could produce, and the questions that could be answered, there's no official standards governing availability of court-related data here in the United States. So this leaves folks like myself who want answers to these questions spending hours in case record system attempting to pull together enough data to get a hint at what's going on. OK, so what I'm hearing is that there is a ton of data that could exist and information that could tell us a lot about how our justice system works. […]
