ਪੰਜਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਿਆਣਾ ਦੇ ਖਿੱਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਨੇ ਪਰਬਤਾਂ ਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਦਰਿਆਵਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਜਰਖੇਜ਼ ਅਲੂਵਲੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਵਾਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਖਿੱਤਾ ਖੇਤੀ ਪੈਦਾਵਾਰ ਪੱਖੋਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਉਤਪਾਦਕ ਹੈ। ਗਰਮੀਆਂ 'ਚ ਮੌਨਸੂਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਚੱਕਰਵਾਤੀ ਹਵਾਵਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਬਰਸਾਤ ਅਤੇ ਯਮੁਨਾ ਸਮੇਤ 4 ਦਰਿਆਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਖਿੱਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਵਗਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਹੇਠਲੇ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਵਰੋਸਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹਦਿਲੀ, ਗ਼ੈਰਤ, ਬਹਾਦਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਨਵੀਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਦੀ ਵਰਤਾਈ ਇਸ ਇਲਾਹੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਸਿੱਟਾ ਹੈ। ਸੰਨ 1947 ਵਿਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਅਤੇ 1966 ਵਿਚ ਮੁੜ ਵੰਡ 'ਚੋਂ ਉਗਮੇ ਹਰਿਆਣਾ ਰਾਜ ਕਾਰਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ ਰਾਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਆਸ ਦਰਿਆਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਦੇ ਝਗੜੇ 'ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ। ਬਿਨਾਂ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਖੇਤੀ ਲਈ ਦਰਿਆਈ ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਦਰਿਆਈ ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਸਮੇਂ-ਸਮੇਂ ਸਿਰ ਉਦੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਤੱਤਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਕ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਆਦਿ ਵਾਪਰਨਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
